Droog

droog team borrowed its name

from the ‘young man belonging to a street gang’

or rather from the russian term for friend [drug]

as traced in the Clockwork Orange.

one could say that their designs

share with the latter a certain amount of innovation,

wonder and, sometimes, disbelief.

the plastic knobs on the wall

art more than utility;

the high chair, with the saw-accessory,

shrinks as the child expands & the

’till death do us part’ table which

the owner has to sign at first sight.

a design ironic and witty

as characterizes the french team ‘atypyk’

comes as food for thought,

more than another chair on the wall,

floor, or around the table.

having started at 1993 as a statement on design

they have managed to balance the mental

over the practical, by producing furniture,

objects and accessories being comfortable

in the thought rather in the body.

an intellectual occupancy of space.

and by the phrase ‘every product tells a story’

one acquires the magnificent picture of

materials being able not only to carry a story

but, moreover, to narrate it.

VIP Mirror by Habitat*

mirror

Having drunk way tooo much champagne

at the opening of Golden Hall,

wearing my golden-leaved shoes,

im questioning luxury.

The ability to say no,

the people u know,

the friends you have,

the shoes you own.

Questionmark.

Summing up to the fact,

that luxury is

the capability to say yes,

to have your morning coffee at “Vivliothiki”

with grannies, at the next table,

eating shrimps & salad.

The smell of Soupline all over your home.

Luxury is when u ask your mirror

who is the most beautiful of all.

- And he never replies -
